Step 1. Open your Discord app
Open your Discord app or browser. Both platforms offer the same way of banning a user.
Note: Make sure that you have the latest version of the application.
Step 2. Log onto your account
Make sure that you've logged onto the account that is an Administrator for the certain Discord server. You cannot ban someone if you don't have the permission to do so.
Step 3. Choose the User
You can either choose from the right side bar of the list of members or if they have infractions on chat, you can right click their name. For this instance, I will be trying to ban this user as an example.
Step 4. Click on the User
Right click on the user's name and you will see that there are options on what you can do.
Step 5. Ban the User
On the lower part of the options, you will see that there are some options that are colored red. You can see that you can either Timeout, Kick or Ban the user using this feature. You will also see their username beside the options. Since we are looking to ban the user, click on "Ban Novachrono"
Step 6. Confirm Ban
A pop up will appear and you will be asked for a reason for banning and if you want to delete the user's message history. This is useful for users that has multiple infractions, spammer or sending suspicious links. You can delete them all at once. After filling up the details, click on "Ban", then the user will be banned, they cannot rejoin the server
How can I see the list of Banned Users?
There would be a time that you need to view the list of the banned users. You might want to see the guys that are banned in the server for various reasons. Note that you have to be an administrator or moderator role to view this feature. Here's how to see the list of banned users in your Discord server.
Step 1. Select the Server
To view the list of banned members in a Discord server, you have to open the server and you should have administrator permissions. For this article, we will be using my test server, GoLinuxCloud Test Server.
Step 2. Click on the Server's Name
You need to click on the server's name to view all the menu settings that you can access. Note that if you don't have any permission to access administrative settings, you can only see some of these functions.
Step 3. Server Settings
After clicking on the menu, you will see that there is an option to access "Server Settings", click on it.
Step 4. Go to Bans
On the moderation category, you will see "Bans". This will contain all of the banned members in the community. Click on it.
