Discord is a communication platform for gamers that allows gamers to connect with each other for gaming purposes. There are many different ways to react on Discord, but the most common way is to use the "reactions" feature. This feature allows you to add an emoji to your message and then other users can click on that emoji to "react" to your message.
If you spend any time on the internet, you've probably seen a reacts on posts or messages. They're everywhere. And if you're a gamer, may it be casual or just hanging out, there's a good chance you've seen one on Discord. What are they? They're an image or an emji response to something someone said. The images are sort of like an emoji, but usually more funny or expressive. Discord reactions are a great way to add some fun and personality to your messages. You can use them to respond to someone's message, or to just add a little bit of flair to your own. There are all sorts of different reactions to choose from, so you can find the perfect one for any situation.
What are Discord Reacts or Reactions?
There are many different types of reactions that you can use on Discord. The most common reactions are the "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" reactions, but there are also reactions for "laughing", "crying", "sad", "angry", " shocked", and "confused". You can also add your own custom reactions. You can regularly use the "React" feature when conversing with others. Any emoji in the Discord emoji library is allowed to be used. Where do you use Reacts?
1. Reaction Roles
Reaction roles are roles that are set up by an Admin to be given automatically by bots, in this case, we will be using Carl Bot. The users can select which role to get on a specific channel and will automatically get that role by just reacting on the post.

2. Reaction on a message
You can reacts to react to messages, or even just to show your reaction to something someone has said or an announcement on a Discord server. There are all sorts of different reactions you can use. You can also search for a reaction that suits your feeling about something that someone said.
3. Gaming Discord bots
Most of the gaming Discord bots uses emojis to start playing. Most of them uses the emoji as a command for their functions.
How to react on Discord?
There are only a few steps on having your first react on a message. Here are the steps to do it:
Step 1. Look for a message
Look for a message that offers reactions. Some admins or mods in Discord servers usually turn this off for their important announcements or bot related functions since bots that uses emojis will be confused if there are lots of other emojis included. As for this instance, I will be reacting to a message that I sent, "This is how you react to a message"
Step 2. Move your cursor on the upper right
Move your cursor towards the upper right side of the message, you will see that a menu will pop up and you will see the "Add Reaction" menu. Click on it.
Step 3. Choose your emoji
After clicking "Add Reaction" you will see a list of emojis that are available to use. You can choose from these emojis.
Step 4. Message Reacted
For this example, I have chosen to put a check as a reaction on the message. You will see that the emoji will be below the message you reacted on. You can add as much emoji you want.
Voila! You have successfully reacted on a message!
How to use Custom Emojis
Discord also offers using custom emojis that are in the server that you are in or in the server that you've created and created a custom emoji. You have to purchase a Nitro subscription to use this function. You can read more about Discord Nitro here.
Note: This only works if you have joined a server that has custom emojis and you are subscribed to nitro already.
Step 1. Choose a message
You need to choose a message that you want to add a reaction to.
Step 2. Move your Cursor
Move your cursor on the upper right side of the message and you will see "Add Reaction".
Step 3. Look for a custom emoji
This should have the name of the server that offers this emoji. Discord's server custom emojis can be used globally. The left side of the options are the Discord servers that has custom emojis, you can click on them to choose from their collection of emojis.
Step 4. Message Reacts
The reactions that you put should be under the message you put it on. On this case, I selected the opensea logo from a Discord server that I'm a member of. You can add as much emoji as you want
How to search for an Emoji
You may be thinking of a reaction that's not in the list or you're just too lazy to look for the emoji one by one. There is a way to look for an expression that suits your reaction on a certain message. You can do this by following these few additional steps below:
Step 1. Click on "Add Reaction"
Since this is just an additional step, let's skip to the part where you click on "Add Reaction" on the upper right side of the message.
Step 2. Emoji search bar
At the top of the listed emojis, there is a search bar. You can type in what emoji or expression it is that you're looking for. After pressing Enter, all the emojis that are related to your search will appear. This also includes custom emojis from all the servers that you're a member of.
Step 3. Reacts on Message
You will see that the emoji will be also put under the message you reacted to.
Summary
Reactions are a great way to express your thought on a certain topic or a message that someone has sent. This adds flavor to a dry conversation and also a great way to interact even though you're not engaged in a conversation with a person. By using reacts, you can tell the message sender your reaction through emojis. Note that though you're allowed to use as much emoji as you want, you need to use this with caution since Discord server's policy tags this as spamming leading to a mute or a ban. React with caution.
