How to transfer owner on Discord?

Transferring ownership of a server that you grew and loved is not an easy decision. You need to be sure of this since you can't get the server back once you've given it to someone else. Also, only the owner can transfer ownership of the Discord server. Administrators do not have access on this part of the Discord server.

Here's a detailed step by step guide on how to transfer Discord server ownership.

Step 1. Launch your Discord App

Open your Discord application thru browser or on the Desktop application. Make sure that you've installed the latest version of the application.

Step 2. Go to a Server that you Own

Go to the server that you want to transfer ownership. For this instance, I will be using our test server, GoLinuxCloud Test Server and we will be transferring this server.

Note: Make sure you are the OWNER OF THE SERVER so that you can have the option to transfer the ownership of the server.

Note: Once you have transferred the server, you cannot get it back. The only way to be the owner of this server again is if the new owner gives you back the ownership of the server. Make sure you are the OWNER OF THE SERVER so that you can have the option to transfer the ownership of the server.

Summary

There will be a time when you must relinquish control of the Discord server. You can be preoccupied with something more important or it could be a result of some personal circumstances. There are some tasks that can only be performed by the owner, so even though you have the choice to grant Administrator or Moderator roles, it's still preferable to give them up completely if you won't be returning. If this ever happens in the future, it's good to know that you can transfer the server that you grew from hard work to a trusted companion.

If you ever feel that it's time to transfer the ownership of the server, follow the steps above!
